FCC to defend ‘NYPD Blue’ fine

The FCC said it would defend in court fines totaling $1.2 million for a 2003 broadcast of an episode of “NYPD Blue” by Walt Disney Co.’s ABC network and independently owned TV affiliates.
“Inappropriate content was aired at a time when children are watching TV,” FCC spokeswoman Mary Diamond said after ABC appealed the fines to the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York. The episode showed an actress’ bare buttocks.
