Who’s fear-mongering?

Re “The GOP’s McCarthy gene,” Opinion, Nov. 30
Look, I am a conservative for one reason: More and better things get done by encouraging individual initiative than by instituting government handouts. Communism and socialism, though sounding good in theory, manage to kill the dynamic spark that drives free economies.
As for Sen. Joe McCarthy, the only really relevant question is this: Were there communists where he indicated? There is strong evidence that there were. And did Barack Obama associate with people who essentially hate America’s founding principles? The answer is the same.
The left is far more fear-mongering, in general, than the right.
