L.A. mayor’s ambition is evident

Re “Leaders visit D.C. to pitch L.A. wish list,” March 28
So it seems Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa felt compelled to go to Washington again this week to lobby Congress for more money for various items. And he took 200 or so other leaders to sing the same song. Striking proof of the boondoggle and simple “be seen” nature of the trip was his curious need to schedule and spend time lobbying our own Sen. Dianne Feinstein and other longtime California members of Congress. Villaraigosa can meet with them often on their regular trips home. Stay home, Mr. Mayor. This city needs strong leadership here, now, acutely. Run for a federal elective or appointive office on your own dime and your own time. Think not that voters fail to see your games.
