4 get prison for racist killing

A Russian court sentenced four men to prison terms of seven to 14 years for the racially motivated slaying of a Congolese student.
Roland Epassak was killed in St. Petersburg two years ago amid a wave of attacks in the city on dark-skinned foreigners and immigrants.
The St. Petersburg City Court’s ruling that the four were driven by “extremist” motives followed a jury’s guilty verdict.
Outside the courthouse, relatives and protesters chanted, “Freedom!” and held signs saying the accused were not guilty.
