Man is shot and killed in Santa Ana

From a Times Staff Writer
A man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Santa Ana, police said.
Officers responding to a report of shots fired about 2:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of West La Verne Avenue found a Latino man believed to be about 40 years old.
The victim was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he later died.
Police said the assailant fled in an unidentified vehicle.
The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
