* at Florida 14, Tampa Bay 8: Jeremy Hermida hit a grand slam to start the Marlins’ rally from a six-run deficit. They trailed, 8-2, after four innings, then scored 12 unanswered runs. The go-ahead run scored after Tampa Bay catcher Dioner Navarro left the game after being hit in the throat with a pitch. Manager Joe Maddon said Navarro was taken to a hospital, where he’d be kept overnight for observation.

* New York Mets 3, at Detroit 0: Chad Durbin yielded only six hits in eight innings, but two were home runs -- by David Wright in the fourth inning and Carlos Delgado in the seventh.

* at New York Yankees 5, Pittsburgh 4 (10 innings): Mariano Rivera pitched two innings for the first time since Aug. 27, lowering his earned-run average to 4.13 with his eighth consecutive scoreless outing.

* at Baltimore 4, Colorado 2: Nick Markakis singled and scored in the first inning, then hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to give the Orioles a 4-1 lead. Markakis is 12 for 32 (.375) with 11 RBIs in his last nine games.

* at Cincinnati 4, Cleveland 3: Homer Bailey benefited from three home runs, including the 577th of Ken Griffey Jr.’s career, to win his major league debut.

* at Texas 9, Milwaukee 6: Sammy Sosa did not homer for the 15th straight game in his pursuit to become the fifth player ever to hit 600. But he broke out of a seven-for-49 slump since hitting his 598th on May 22. He had three hits, including a run-scoring double.

* Washington 8, at Minnesota 5: The loss at Minneapolis spoiled the return of All-Star catcher Joe Mauer, who was activated from the disabled list after sitting out 29 games because of a strained left quadriceps.

* at Kansas City 8, Philadelphia 4: Mark Grudzielanek and Mike Sweeney homered during a six-run second inning to power the Royals in the Phillies’ first visit to Kauffman Stadium since the 1980 World Series.

* Houston 5, at Chicago White Sox 2: Lance Berkman, who is appealing a two-game suspension announced by Major League Baseball for his outburst following an ejection this week, was tossed again in the fourth inning for arguing a called third strike with home plate umpire Sam Holbrook.

* Boston 10, at Arizona 3: J.D. Drew hit a pair of three-run homers and drove in a career-high seven runs.

* Seattle 6, at San Diego 5 (11 innings): Raul Ibanez homered leading off the 11th inning for the Mariners.

* Oakland 5, at San Francisco 3 (10 innings): Shannon Stewart hit a tiebreaking two-run single.

* Angels 10, at St. Louis 6: The first six Angels batters in the seventh inning hit safely, and all eventually scored.

* at Dodgers 4, Toronto 3 (10 innings): The Dodgers won it on pinch-hitter Olmedo Saenz’s two-run homer.
