Joost, the Internet television service, has named longtime Silicon Valley executive Mike Volpi as its new chief executive.
Volpi, 40, spent the last 13 years at Cisco Systems Inc., playing an active role in its acquisition strategy. He met Joost’s founders, Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, while evaluating their previous venture, Internet phone service Skype, for a potential investor. He later served on Skype’s board of directors.
Volpi succeeds CEO Fredrik de Wahl, who remains chief strategy officer.
