Hollywood Park pick six carry-over tops $3 million

Thanks to another rash of surprises in the pick six, Hollywood Park today will have a record carry-over of $3,274,505.
There has not been a perfect ticket in the pick six for the last four racing days, and it’s only the second time in track history there has been a carry-over of that length. The first came Nov. 17-20, 1988.
It is possible Hollywood Park could set a North American record for the largest pick six pool if an amount similar to what was bet Sunday is bet this afternoon. The pick six is on races 3-8.
More than $3.4 million was wagered chasing a carry-over of $1,386,235 on Sunday. The biggest pool in North American history was $7,303,848 on March 3, 2004, at Santa Anita. That figure was reached after a three-day carry-over of $1,413,136 in Arcadia.
The biggest upset Sunday was provided by Bright Prediction, who won the sixth race at 85-1. Making his first start since being claimed for $10,000 by trainer Jesse Mendoza for owner Felipe Carlos on June 13, the 4-year-old Dance Brightly gelding defeated $40,000 claimers under jockey Jorge Chavez in his first start on the turf.
