China policy on islands protested

About 300 Vietnamese Americans from Orange County boarded buses for the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles on Wednesday to protest China’s territorial claims over the Paracel and Spratly islands in the South China Sea.
The protesters said the islands had historically belonged to Vietnam. However, the Chinese government recently formed a county government to run a small cluster of the islands.
Protesters, some of whom carried signs reading “Down with Red China,” called on the Vietnamese government to do more to stop the Chinese from claiming the islands. “What the Chinese are doing we call invasion, and we are against any kind of invasion,” said community activist Ky Ngo.
