NEW ORLEANS -- Drew Brees connected on 87% of his throws for 315 yards and two touchdowns, capping the afternoon with a 22-yard completion to Billy Miller on a third-down play that allowed the New Orleans Saints to run out the clock in a 31-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Brees completed 26 of 30 passes without an interception. His tosses included a 32-yard rainbow that David Patten caught in stride along the sideline for a touchdown in the second quarter.
The Saints (7-7) rushed for 114 yards, with third-string running back Aaron Stecker finishing with 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Kurt Warner was 19 for 30 for 233 yards and three touchdowns for the Cardinals (6-8). He completed six of seven throws on an 80-yard scoring drive in the third quarter that cut the Saints’ lead to 28-21.
