Re “U.S. pulls U.N. resolution on Middle East peace deal,” Dec. 1
Israel was forced to show its colors -- it wants the West Bank, not peace. But the United Nations chooses to believe Israel’s words, not its history of actions, and writes a resolution endorsing the peace. Israel gets the U.S. to veto the resolution before it can ever take off. What Israel wants is to continue settling the West Bank while evacuating a settler or two to make it look as though it is trying to accommodate the Palestinians.

A Middle East peace resolution was quickly withdrawn after it appeared that no one was consulted. This raises an important question: Is there nothing that Team Bush can’t totally foul up? They’re not even the gang that couldn’t shoot straight -- at least it could shoot.
