Concert that cemented Dudamel to air

Classical music fans who want to get a sampling of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s next music director will get the opportunity Sunday when KUSC-FM (91.5) broadcasts a concert he conducted with the orchestra in January.
It was that program at Walt Disney Concert Hall that persuaded the Philharmonic’s Artistic Liaison Committee to select Gustavo Dudamel to take over when Esa-Pekka Salonen steps down at the end of the 2008-09 season to concentrate on composing.
The program, which includes Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Piano Concerto (Yefim Bronfman is the soloist) and Kodaly’s “Dances of Galanta,” will be broadcast at 4 p.m. as part of KUSC’s L.A. Philharmonic concert series.
