Florida State League
Vero Beach finished with a 51-80 overall record, going 26-42 in the first half and 25-38 in the second half. First baseman Cory Dunlap led the league in on-base percentage (.435), with 74 hits and 88 walks in 284 at-bats, while posting a .261 batting average in 89 games. Right-hander Zach Hammes led the pitching staff, posting a 6-3 record and recording only his second career save. Hammes compiled a 4.22 earned-run average in 91 2/3 innings pitched.
COLUMBUS CATFISH
South Atlantic League
Columbus finished fourth in the Southern Division with a 72-68 record. The Catfish had two pitchers, left-hander Brent Leach (April 24-30) and right-hander James McDonald (Aug. 28-Sept. 4), named SAL pitcher of the week, and outfielder Andrew Locke was SAL player of the week for May 22-28. Locke also was honored as the Dodgers’ organizational player of the month for May. Outfielder Lucas May was fourth in the league in extra-base hits (54) and triples (nine).
