Wal-Mart Is Trying Out New Uniforms

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is testing a uniform for its 1.3 million U.S. employees as the retailer works to attract more upscale shoppers.
The clothing consists of a plain dark blue shirt and khaki pants, spokesman John Simley said Tuesday, in contrast to the blue-lettered smocks workers wear over their clothes. Wal-Mart is testing the uniforms in 100 stores, he said, including all stores opened since September.
Simley said the company had not decided whether it or the employees would pay for the uniforms.
