More battalions planned for Iraq
From Times Wire Reports
The Pentagon is developing plans to send four more battalions to Iraq early next year, partly to boost security in Baghdad, defense officials said.
The extra combat engineer battalions of reserves would total about 3,500 troops, officials said. They said that the units, from around the United States, had already done tours in Iraq and that there had been no final decision on which would go.
The decision-making process was described by officials who requested anonymity because the plans had not yet been announced.
