* El Paso Corp., the Houston-based natural gas pipeline operator, said it swung to a third-quarter profit.

Net income after paying preferred dividends totaled $126 million, or 18 cents a share, compared with a loss of $321 million, or 50 cents, a year earlier.

Sales surged to $1.06 billion from $752 million a year earlier.

* RealNetworks Inc., operator of online music service Rhapsody, said its fiscal second-quarter profit more than tripled on a gain in subscribers and a settlement with Microsoft Corp.

Net income climbed to $42.2 million, or 24 cents a share, from $11.2 million, or 6 cents, a year earlier, Seattle-based RealNetworks said. Sales gained 14% to $93.7 million.
