Two people died Wednesday when a car traveling the wrong way on the Foothill tollway collided with another vehicle, causing a fire that engulfed both, authorities said.
A witness reported a car traveling north in a southbound lane just south of the 91 interchange about 1:45 p.m. A minute later, the car hit a Jeep Cherokee head on, California Highway Patrol Officer Rolf Trondsen said.
Authorities said they had not identified the victims.
The southbound Fastrak lanes reopened about 5:30 p.m.
