Energy Level Figures to Be on High
There could be more fireworks between the Mighty Ducks and the Dallas Stars tonight as the teams meet for the second time in three days and seventh this season.
Hard hits were a large part of the Stars’ physical 2-1 victory Wednesday night. In the second period, for example, forward Teemu Selanne was leveled along the boards by Dallas defenseman Philippe Boucher.
“It was one play where I didn’t have my head up and I didn’t expect he was coming up,†Selanne said. “That happens.â€
Duck forward Chris Kunitz jumped on Boucher but also drew a double minor for roughing that led to Niko Kapanen’s game-winning goal. In all, there were seven roughing minors and two fighting major penalties.
The Ducks’ Todd Fedoruk decked Mike Modano in the third period and Jonathan Hedstrom knocked Sergei Zubov of the Stars from the game with a hip check. “It seems [the officials] were letting most stuff go,†Duck forward Joffrey Lupul said. “It was a pretty physical game, probably the most physical game of the year.â€

The trade for left wing Jeff Friesen has yet to have the desired effect. Friesen, acquired from the Washington Capitals at the March 9 trade deadline, has two points and a minus-four rating in 10 games.
