Losing faith in church leadership
Re “Changes Coming to Catholic Mass,†June 16
For the love of God -- stand, sit, kneel, Latin, English, different English -- do the U.S. bishops believe any practicing Catholics put this on the top of the priority list of what the church needs to address? We want to see the bishops working on action that will convince us that they are solving the problems that are important to their flocks. We want to know that they have ended rampant child abuse, curbed non-celibate homosexuality in their ranks, turned the tide on diminishing U.S. vocations, Mass attendance and shrinking financial support. While they are doing that, they can issue meaningful guidelines regarding social justice instead of the inconclusive babble that consistently comes out of their mouths. Wake up and toughen up, our leaders. We want to follow, but we need you to really lead.
