Mulholland Is Activated
The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned rookie starter Enrique Gonzalez to triple-A Tucson after he beat the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.
Needing another left-hander in the bullpen with 10 games scheduled in a nine-day span, the Diamondbacks activated 43-year-old Terry Mulholland from the 15-day disabled list before the second game of a doubleheader Saturday night.
After his 4-2 victory over the Braves, Gonzalez is 1-0 with a 2.25 earned-run average in two starts. The right-hander has struck out 12 in 12 innings.

The Baltimore Orioles recalled outfielder Ed Rogers from triple-A Ottawa to replace right fielder Jay Gibbons, who was put on the 15-day disabled list because of hip and knee injuries.... The New York Yankees put right-hander Darrell Rasner on the 15-day disabled list because of soreness in his pitching shoulder and recalled left-hander Matt Smith from triple-A Columbus. And Yankees reliever Octavio Dotel, who had elbow ligament replacement surgery a year ago, is expected to join Class-A Tampa on Thursday....Philadelphia Phillies starter Randy Wolf, who had elbow ligament replacement surgery on July 1, expects to start a minor league rehabilitation assignment Thursday with Class-A Clearwater.
