5-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Community Pool

A 5-year-old boy drowned in a community pool Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Police and fire officials said paramedics responded to the 5900 block of Chambord about 2:35 p.m. after receiving a call about a child “passed out†by the pool. The unidentified boy, who was from Santa Ana, was pronounced dead on arrival at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.
Detectives were interviewing witnesses Saturday evening, said Sgt. Bill Hartford of the Newport Beach Police Department.
