3 Brothers, 2 Others Slain in New Orleans

Three brothers -- 16-year-old twins and a 21-year-old -- and a friend were killed near the French Quarter, New Orleans police said, and a fifth person was fatally shot in a separate incident.
The shootings were the latest round of killings as the city struggles to rein in drug- and gang-related violence that has shadowed the recovery from Hurricane Katrina. In June, after five teenagers were shot to death in a single attack, Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco sent the Louisiana National Guard and state police to help patrol the city.
