At least three people were fatally shot in three separate incidents in the Compton area Saturday, sheriff’s officials said.
Shortly after 10 p.m., two shootings were reported, one in the eastern and the other in the western section of Compton. One person was killed and one other injured.
Earlier in the afternoon, Rafael Ramos, 18, was shot in the chest while riding his bicycle on the 14700 block of South Lime Avenue in east Rancho Dominguez, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Paul Schrader.
The shot came from a moving car, and Ramos was pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.
Early Saturday, a woman was fatally shot by someone in a car on the 1200 block of North Bullis Road, said Sgt. Mitch Loman. Detectives are investigating both cases.
Despite the recent slayings, there has been a significant decline in homicides in Compton since last year.
