A 48-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy were killed in a pre-dawn freeway crash in Torrance on Saturday after the car in which they were riding was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle, authorities said.
The crash on the southbound 405 Freeway, south of Artesia Boulevard, occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident was under investigation, but preliminary reports indicated the small passenger car carrying the victims had stopped on the freeway.
