Wind Gusts Raise Fire Hazard Warning

A red-flag fire hazard warning is in effect through Wednesday in the mountains of Southern California as the relative humidity hovered at dangerously low levels, meteorologists with the National Weather Service said Sunday.
Wind gusts of up to 50 mph were expected through this morning in the mountains and valleys of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
“We haven’t had a whole lot of rain, and whenever you get wind over 30 mph, it tends to dry out the brush in the mountains and hills,” said Bill Hoffer, spokesman for National Weather Service.
On the coast, surfers and ocean swimmers can expect waves between 2 feet and 4 feet through Tuesday.
Meteorologists said they expected the wind to die down during the day Tuesday and pick up that evening through Wednesday.
