School Shooting Suspect Charged in Dad’s Death
A young man arrested in a shooting at a high school that injured two students later confessed to killing his father and was charged with murder, authorities said in Hillsborough.
Alvaro Rafael Castillo, 19, was firing two rifles in the Orange High School parking lot when deputies arrived and ordered him to put down the weapons, Orange County Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass said.
Officers later found ammunition, weapons and homemade pipe bombs in his van, officials said. Castillo told deputies about the slaying of his father after he was taken into custody, Pendergrass said. Deputies found the body of Rafael Huezo Castillo at his home. He had been shot to death.
