Manilow is back home after surgery
Barry Manilow, who won an Emmy Award on Sunday night and then underwent hip surgery Monday, was back at his Palm Springs home Tuesday, his publicist said.
Manilow postponed the arthroscopic surgery -- to repair cartilage tears in both hips -- so he could attend the Emmys. He performed “Bandstand Boogie,†the theme from Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand,†as part of a tribute to Clark during the show, then picked up an award for outstanding individual performance in a variety or music program.
Manilow’s recovery and rehabilitation are expected to take six to eight weeks. Then he plans to jump back into his performance routine, with an Oct. 14 performance in Atlantic City, N.J., an Oct. 21 booking in Chicago, then the resumption of his show at the Las Vegas Hilton on Nov. 8.
