Firefighter Dies When Blazing Floor Collapses

A rookie New York City firefighter died and another was critically injured when they plunged into a burning discount store’s basement after a floor collapsed. Three others were in serious condition at a hospital, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said, adding: “I ask all New Yorkers to take a moment and say a prayer for the firefighter that we lost.”
