Council Authorizes Talks With SEC

The City Council has authorized its outside counsel to discuss a possible settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission over the city’s failure to disclose its pension deficit to Wall Street.
The SEC has been investigating the city’s failure to disclose the deficit, now estimated at $2 billion, before selling bonds.
