Regarding “30,000 Strokes to Go†[Oct. 18]: I’ve done the Hermosa Beach to Manhattan Beach pier-to-pier swim, but now I’ll set my sights on a slightly higher goal for the future, like the Catalina crossing.

On Sept. 11, my husband and four other swimming alumni from Holy Cross in Massachusetts completed the Catalina swim as a relay team for their final feat in what’s known as the endurance swimming trifecta: the English Channel, the swim around Manhattan and the Catalina crossing. It’s believed they are the oldest relay team to do the trifecta and the English Channel. My husband is the youngest male, at 59.
