Betty Lee Hunt, 85, a Broadway publicist who worked on the original productions of “Sweet Charity” and “Grease,” died Oct. 11 at her home in New York City.
Hunt, who also publicized many off-Broadway plays and was an associate producer of “Torch Song Trilogy,” had suffered from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Among her roster of clients over the years were Lena Horne, George Shearing, Barbara Cook and Bobby Short.
Her longtime partner in their theatrical public relations firm was Maria Pucci, with whom she staged a star-studded annual New Year’s Eve party for many years.
“Imaginative, indefatigable and unique, she made press agentry an art,” columnist Liz Smith wrote of Hunt this week.
