Slight Increase in Sales Is Reported
Retail sales for the three days after Thanksgiving were up 0.4% from last year’s strong results, ShopperTrak RCT Corp. said.
The company, which monitors more than 45,000 retail locations, noted that sales picked up slightly toward the end of the weekend.
Separately, the International Council of Shopping Centers said that for the week ended Saturday, which included the two days at the start of the holiday shopping season, sales at stores open at least a year rose 5.1% from a year earlier.
That was the biggest jump since June 2004.
Final figures for November from about 75 chains are to be released Thursday.
