Hurricanes Defeat the Senators Again, 2-1
Martin Gerber made 35 saves to lead the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night at Ottawa.
Two of Ottawa’s three losses this season have come against Carolina.
Ray Whitney and Mike Commodore scored second-period goals for the Hurricanes (13-3-1-0), who have won nine of their last 10 games.
Montreal 4, Florida 3 -- Saku Koivu scored his second goal with four seconds left in overtime to lift the Canadiens over the Panthers at Montreal to extend Florida’s losing streak to nine games.
Washington 4, Tampa Bay 3 -- Alexander Ovechkin forced overtime by scoring with 1:15 left, then got the only goal in a shootout to lead the Capitals past the Lightning at Washington.
Toronto 2, New York Rangers 1 -- Bryan McCabe scored two power-play goals, one on a two-man advantage, to lead the Maple Leafs over the Rangers at Toronto.
Buffalo 4, New Jersey 1 -- Chris Drury had a goal and an assist to lead the Sabres at Buffalo, N.Y., and end an 11-game winless streak against the Devils.
