Chase Ends in Arrest of Car-Theft Suspect
A man was arrested after he led police on a chase in an alleged stolen car, officials said Wednesday.
Omar Magana, 24, of Santa Ana is being held at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of car theft, evasion, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and resisting arrest, police said. Bail was set at $25,000.
The incident occurred about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday when an officer spotted a reportedly stolen white 1988 Toyota Camry, near Harbor Boulevard and Warner Avenue. When the officer tried to stop him, authorities said, Magana sped off. After a short pursuit, he got out of the car and ran, officials said.
Police cornered him in a backyard and arrested him, they said. He was treated for a broken ankle.
