Ex-Felon Who Posed as Lawyer Gets 12 1/2 Years

A convicted felon who posed as a lawyer has been sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison.
Harold David Goldstein, 59, represented hundreds of clients, including many at deportation hearings. He told the sentencing judge that he won 25 cases in the eight months he operated his Newport Beach practice.
Nothing can be done for the immigrants who were deported, Assistant U.S. Atty. Andrew Stolper said. “It’s a disaster.”
Goldstein has convictions dating from the 1970s, when he defrauded 13,000 investors in a commodities scheme and sold $1 million in phony gold contracts.
