From Times Wire Reports
Fire that raged through Fort Scott’s historic downtown destroyed at least seven buildings and damaged about half a dozen others.
Strong wind fanned the blaze, which started in Other Bar on Main Street, Mayor Gary Billionis said. “Part of the history of our town was lost today.”
The buildings, about 100 to 140 years old, housed antique stores, restaurants and offices. Fort Scott is about 60 miles south of the Kansas City area.
