21 Pitching Machines Recovered

Twenty-one pitching machines stolen from Southland schools and parks have been recovered from a secondhand sports equipment store in Orange County.
The store’s owner has been cooperating with investigators, said Jon Fleischman, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
At least 25 pitching machines and baseball gear have been stolen since last summer from schools and parks in Orange County, the South Bay and West Los Angeles. The loss has been estimated at more than $40,000.
Santa Monica High School lost equipment worth more than $10,000, including three pitching machines. Five Westside schools and eight Orange County schools also were hit.
Fleischman said no arrests had been made.
