From Times Wire Reports
A railcar leaking toxic chemicals forced the evacuation of more than 6,000 people near Salt Lake City.
Authorities evacuated a half-square mile downwind from the site after the leak was discovered by crews loading chemicals into a railcar in South Salt Lake. No injuries were reported.
A Union Pacific spokesman said a liner in a railcar might have failed. The chemicals -- hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid -- can cause severe burns.
