Hard-Liners Push for Referendum on Pullout

From Times Wire Reports

The rebellious executive arm of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s Likud Party voted to urge its deputies in parliament to seek a referendum on Sharon’s plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.

The Central Committee ballot pushed through by rightist hard-liners opposed to the plan was nonbinding, and Sharon’s aides said it would have little effect since there is no majority in parliament to pass any referendum legislation.
