Palm Springs’ family affair
As an almost 17-year full-time resident of Palm Springs who moved down from L.A. after retirement, I loved Valli Herman’s article about our little bit of heaven (“Is It Hot Enough for You Now?” Feb. 24).
I’m a bit puzzled, however, by the statement regarding the ages (mostly over 40) of attendees at the Thursday night Village Fest street fair. The night of her visit must have been an aberration, for I’ve been going down regularly since its inception and particularly love the fact that it’s generally a true family affair, complete with babies in arms and strollers, well-behaved dogs of all breeds and sizes, junior high and high schoolers hangin’ and a completely eclectic mix of residents and visitors.
Occasionally there’s even a shoulder-carried parrot or cockatoo, and once in a while a big snake wrapped around his owner’s body.
