“The Quiet Manâ€: John Ford’s 1952 film was nominated for seven Oscars and won two: best director and best color cinematography. John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara and the Irish countryside star in this Technicolor bit of boisterous blarney about an American boxer (Wayne) returning to his native Irish village and falling in love. The Los Angeles Conservancy’s Last Remaining Seats series will screen the film Wednesday at the Orpheum Theatre. Before the film, the Cleary Irish Dance Group will perform and organist Bob Mitchell will strike up the theater’s original mighty Wurlitzer.
“The Quiet Man†screens at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Orpheum Theatre, 842 S. Broadway, L.A. $13-$18. (213) 430-4219. www.laconservancy.org.
