Brush Fire Contained After Burning 200 Acres

A brush fire near Palm Springs singed 200 acres and threatened 15 homes, three ranches and a fish hatchery Tuesday before firefighters contained it about 6 p.m.
Nearly 175 firefighters from the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection and the U.S. Forest Service battled the blaze, which started about 12:30 p.m. Four air tankers doused flames near Cecil Drive and Whitewater Canyon Road, 10 to 15 miles north of Palm Springs.
No injuries, damage or evacuations were reported.
