Garden Grove Driver Shot in Midway City
A 22-year-old Garden Grove driver was fatally shot in unincorporated Midway City early Saturday by someone in a passing car, authorities said.
Authorities did not release the victim’s name, pending notification of relatives.
The driver was westbound on Bolsa Avenue near Newland Street when someone in a dark BMW or Mercedes Benz shot him, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Jim Amormino.
The driver of the 2002 black Acura lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole, Amormino said. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died.
The two passengers in his car were not hit by gunfire, Amormino said, but suffered minor injuries in the crash.
