Padding Medicaid Bills

Re “Senate Takes On Medicaid Loopholes,” June 30: As usual, the Bush administration is going after the average American while turning a blind eye to the shenanigans of corporations.
Having had a father in long-term care for five years, I’ve seen how nursing homes and their associated services will pad their bills to rake in more Medicaid dollars.
When questioned by family members about billed services and equipment that weren’t necessary, the typical response is, “The money’s there, why not use it?” or “You’re not paying for it, so why are you so upset?”
