Re “Bush Draws a Line on Medicare,” Feb. 12: President Bush opposes any congressional attempts to amend the Medicare prescription program so as to let Medicare negotiate drug prices or allow seniors to purchase drugs from Canada. With a base of 41 million seniors, almost twice the population of Canada, Medicare should be able to negotiate even more favorable terms for our own citizens. Bush could then wipe away his crocodile tears about unsafe drugs.
