When a move isn’t welcome

My parents live in L.A. and sent me “Moving? Don’t Expect the Kids to Thank You†[Feb. 3]. My husband is in the hotel business, and we move somewhat often. Our boys, 6 and 10, have come out with some winning comments, but the best was offered up by my 10-year-old about his move from Sacramento to the Bay Area. He said that our new neighborhood reminded him of a beautiful present with “nothing good inside.†He did not feel the neighbors were as friendly as they were in Sacramento. My husband and I were speechless.
