Kristen Kovesdy had 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Emily Westerberg scored six points in the final 2:20, leading No. 11 Arizona State to a 64-51 victory over Washington on Thursday night at Tempe, Ariz.

The Sun Devils, 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the Pacific 10, broke open a tight game in the second half for their eighth consecutive victory, the most since they won nine in a row during the 1991-92 season. Cameo Hicks had 12 points for the Huskies (9-3, 2-1).

Arizona State led, 21-20, at halftime, but had a 20-11 surge early in the second half.

No. 4 Baylor 82, Sam Houston St. 42 -- Sophia Young had 20 points at Waco, Texas, as the Lady Bears (10-0) extended their win streak to 30 games. Sam Houston State is 5-5.

No. 5 North Carolina 88, Old Dominion 80 -- Ivory Latta scored nine of her 33 points in overtime at Norfolk, Va. The Tar Heels (12-0) trailed most of the game. Old Dominion (2-6) led, 40-37, at halftime.

No. 6 Maryland 94, Central Connecticut State 57 -- Shay Doron scored 26 points for Maryland (11-1) in the first round of the Terrapin Classic at College Park, Md. The Blue Devils (2-7) lost their sixth in a row.

No. 7 Ohio State 74, Penn State 53 -- Kim Wilburn sparked the Buckeyes (9-1) with four first-half steals at Columbus, Ohio. The Nittany Lions are 6-6.

No. 8 Connecticut 78, Albany 44 -- Barbara Turner scored 18 points and Ann Strother added 17 at Hartford, Conn., for the Huskies (10-1). Albany is 3-6.

No. 15 Minnesota 69, Northwestern 54 -- The Gophers (8-2) used a balance of solid post play and free throws to win the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams at Evanston, Ill. Northwestern is 4-7.

No. 17 Georgia 97, Memphis 44 -- Sherill Baker scored 25 points and Tasha Humphrey added 23 for the Lady Bulldogs (8-3) at Memphis, Tenn. Tamika Butler had 15 points for Memphis (2-9).

No. 18 Purdue 77, Wisconsin 57 -- Aya Traore scored 18 points for the Boilermakers (9-2) in the Big Ten opener for both teams at West Lafayette, Ind. Ashley Josephson led Wisconsin (5-7) with 13 points.

No. 25 Virginia Tech 76, Texas A&M; Corpus Christi 64 -- Dawn Chriss scored 21 of her 26 points in the second half in the title game of the Lady Luck Classic at Blacksburg, Va. Virginia Tech (12-0) won the classic for the eighth time in a row. Texas A&M; Corpus Christi is 6-6.
