30-Year Mortgage Rates Rise to 5.89% This Week
Rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages rose to a nationwide average of 5.89% this week, up from 5.82% last week.
For one-year adjustable rate mortgages, rates rose to 4.57%, up from 4.47% last week. Rates on 15-year, fixed-rate mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing a home mortgage, averaged 5.47%, compared with 5.38% last week. Rates on five-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages averaged 5.40%, up from 5.30% last week.
The nationwide averages for mortgage rates do not include add-on fees known as points. Fifteen-year and five-year mortgages each carried an average fee of 0.6 point this week. Thirty-year mortgages carried an average fee of 0.5 point, while one-year ARMS had a fee of 0.7 point.
