Leader Urges Prayers for Haze-Ending Rain

With Malaysia’s busy Port Klang ordered closed and workplaces shut in two regions, the prime minister called on mosques to hold special prayers for rain to clear hazardous haze from Indonesian forest fires.
The yellowish haze has shrouded the capital, Kuala Lumpur, and surrounding areas for more than a week.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi declared a state of emergency in Port Klang and in Kuala Selangor, a tourist area known for its fireflies.
