Hill does it again with ‘Fireflies’
WITH her new “Fireflies” album, Faith Hill enters the national pop charts at No. 1 for the third consecutive time, even though the first-week sales fell considerably short of her previous album, according to Nielsen SoundScan figures.
The new CD, which represents somewhat of a return to her country roots after 2002’s more pop-minded “Cry,” sold 329,000 copies in its first week in stores compared with the whopping 472,000 first-week sales of “Cry.”
“Fireflies,” however, easily topped the third-week sales of the latest volume of “Now That’s What I Call Music!” After two weeks at No. 1, the “Now” package slipped to No. 2 with sales last week of 177,000. No other album topped the 100,000 mark.
R&B; newcomer Teairra Mari’s debut entered the chart at No. 5 with 69,000 sales, while the latest Kidz Bop Kids’ compilation finished No. 6 with 67,000.
